The SCC is a yearly camp, that originates from the climate justice movement in Germany and where a variety of people and organizations come together to exchange on, learn and discuss together how to break down barriers, fight oppressions and change this system we live in for the better.
You can imagine a big park with a lot of tents where everyone organizes different workshops, discussions, food and infrastructure together. This year’s camp will take place from the 13th to the 25th of August 2026 in Karlsruhe (Germany).
We are convinced that sustainable change is only possible if we think globally, since all is connected – capitalism, ecological destruction, racism, fascism,… but also our solidarity. We think that learning from movements all around the world and especially listening to marginalized perspectives is essential to unite our fights and push reflexions in- and outside our movements.
Therefore, we would like to make it possible for more people to participate in the Camp, we are currently working on an interpretation concept and are looking for interpreters.
For capacity reasons, we would like to interpret mainly 3 languages – German, French and English – because they are the most frequently spoken languages in the camp participants that we can reach this year. However, we are aware, that this choice of languages is still excluding many people and that the languages are linked to colonialism and neocolonial structures. We would like to expand the languages we are interpreting on the camp in the next years together with our international outreach.
The program at the camp will last 7 days (17.08-23.08) and each day, there will be approximately 2 plenaries and 2 program points that will need translation. We are aware that it is quite a long period of time and a lot to interpret, but if possible, we would like to form a few teams, so that everyone can make enough pauses (and have time to enjoy the camp too).
As for the equipment, we will probably be working with UHF (ultra high frequency) and FM radios. At the start of the camp, we also want to build plexiglas cabins together with the camp participants, so you can interpret protected from the surrounding sound.
The camp is collectively organized and the budget quite limited, but we can pay for travel costs in case of need. And there is lots of tasty vegan food for everyone !
On the camp you can sleep in tents, or if needed, we can organize a place at someone else’s home. In that case please contact us as soon as possible via interpretation@system-change-camp.org
If you’d like to help run the camp, please fill in the form at the bottom of the page.
We would be really grateful for your support!
In solidarity,
SCC Interpretation team
