14.08. - 26.08. FRANKFURT

Your questions about the camp

Below we answer many questions about the camp. If you still have questions, please also remember that we are self-organised and not service providers ;O).

Please come up with your own solutions at the camp as well. Our camp is a space to become effective yourself, from the small to the large.

Registration

Do I need to register?

No, registration is not necessary and we would not process it at all. An exception is if you would like to tell us what you need from us in order to be able to participate freely in the camp. Then please contact the Removing-Barriers Group.

What are the costs for me?

There are no fixed costs for participants. However, as the camp still incurs costs, we are dependent on donations. Our recommendation would be [10 €] per day, but you are welcome to give more or less or nothing at all, as you are able. Additional costs arise in the Kitchen, which operates separately from the camp organisation. We also recommend a donation of 0-10 € per day.

You are welcome to leave donations in cash at the Info-Point, Kitchen tent or at other organisations represented.

Or you can donate here

How can I donate something to you?

You are welcome to leave donations in cash at the Info-Point, Kitchen tent or at other organisations represented.

Or you can donate here

Is the camp run by an organisation?

No, the camp is organised autonomously by many volunteers. Many of us are also organised in other collectives and are supported by them, but none of them act as organisers.

How can I already get involved?

The SCC is organised by everyone together, so you can get involved in many different ways. If you would like to help organise the camp, make a contribution to the programme, support others as a helper, give feedback on the implementation so far or other ideas, or if you are still unsure what you can do, please get in touch with us:

You can also register in our helpers form for longer-term help.

Information on how to get here?

We are currently looking for a suitable camp space in Frankfurt am Main. As soon as we know more, you will find out more here. Until then: FfM is well connected to public transport and motorways in all directions. [If you come by car, we would be happy if you park it outside the city or at least outside the camp area; parking is not provided on our premises.

Is there a bed exchange?

The bed exchange is still in progress, but there will definitely be one. Please check back later!

Kitchen

Is there food?

Yes, there will be three Küfa meals every day, which also take into account various restrictions such as intolerances. So you don’t have to go hungry and can look forward to delicious vegan food.
The Kitchen relies on support and donations for this. Every day there will be repro shifts for chopping, distributing food and washing up and there is a donation recommendation of €0-10 per day.

Is there fresh water?

Yes, we have access to the city’s fresh water pipes. From there, we will transport the water through hoses to our taps. There will be laboratory samples of the water quality in order to prove its potability at certain points; we will receive these values after the first few days of the camp. If you want to be sure, you will find a kettle with boiled water at the Küfa . [More on this under ‘Hygiene’]

What does Küfa mean?

Küfa stands for ‘kitchen for all’. This refers to a solidarity kitchen where everyone can help out and where food is distributed in return for a donation.

Is the food vegan?

Yes, the food will be vegan.

At what times is Küfa available?

Basically there is Küfa food in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening. The exact times will be listed in the program.

Consideration for allergies and the like?

There will be an allergy kitchen so that everyone has something to eat.
If you have allergies or other food restrictions, please let the allergy kitchen know as early as possible so that they can take all needs into account. You can inform us of allergies in the Barrier Reduction Form. You can find it here (you will be redirected to a Cryptpad form).

Participate in the Küfa?

The Küfa always needs help, be it cutting garlic, serving food or washing up. You can sign up for Küfa shifts at the Info Point. If you would like to volunteer for a longer period of time, please contact the Küfa team directly!

Accessibility

Is the camp barrier-free?

The camp is not barrier-free, but we are doing our best to make it accessible. Under the menu item “removing barriers” you can take a closer look at what we can offer and where there is still some catching up to do.

How can I get involved?

The Barrier-free Camp working group has drawn up a long list of possible services. If you would like to make sure that more of these can actually be implemented in the run-up to the camp, please contact us at ! Otherwise, we can always use helpers who can take on general or nursing asisstance services, act as buddies or help out on the Low Barrier Day.

What can the support do?

General assistance could, for example, push people in wheelchairs to the workshop, toilet or kitchen, carry and hand over objects or accompany people with visual impairments to the desired location. Nursing assistants could, for example, help with general hygiene (e.g. brushing teeth, applying cream, getting dressed and undressed), showering or using the toilet and transfers between bed, wheelchair, toilet or shower chair.

What can't the support do?

Most of our helpers have no training as carers and therefore potentially need particularly clear guidance. They are not allowed to administer medication and cannot take on any particularly demanding nursing tasks. Please always discuss what works for you in this constellation and what does not.

Camp Life

Are there interpreters?

We can’t say at the moment. We would like to offer interpretation and are still trying to activate volunteers who can organize the whole thing and offer translation services. We can’t yet say for sure whether and which program items will be translated into how many languages. Please check back here later and get in touch if you would like to contribute to organize!

Is childcare available?

Yes, there will always be childcare during the program!
Registration in advance is not necessary, but welcome. If you have any questions or other needs, please contact us at. You can find more information about childcare on the daily schedule page.

Is medical care available?

There will be paramedics at the camp who will look after you if you need medical care.
If you need anything, please contact the paramedics or the info point.

How can I get involved in the camp?

Shift schedules for various tasks that arise in everyday camp life are posted at the info point. To keep everything running smoothly and to spread the workload, it would be great if everyone could sign up for shifts according to their own capacities.
There is also onboarding or skillshares for many of the shifts, so you don’t have to worry about not being able to do something yet.
You can also sign up in our volunteer tool for longer-term help.

What about toilets?

You can do your small business in squat toilets (Places2Pee). We also have porta-potties and composting toilets where all excrement is allowed (Places2Shit).
Some toilets are reserved for people with disabilities and/or a high need for infection control. To reduce the likelihood of infection, as few people as possible should use these toilets. Please pay attention to the relevant notices.

Are there barrier-free toilets?

We can never create accessibility, but we try to make your poop experience as barrier-free as possible.

There will be several low-barrier toilets and a low-barrier washroom with a toilet.
There is a shower and a toilet that can be reached without steps.

You can find more details on possible barriers around water & shit and measures to remove them on the Hygiene page.

Can I shower at the camp?

There are a small number of showers on the camp. These are located in the marked cabins and are based on the construction concept of the Pipi cabins. In order to conserve the scarce capacities and at the same time keep them open for everyone, we recommend washing at the washbasins as a rule. There are more washing facilities in the low-barrier washrooms. Please only use the red washroom if you think you need a low-barrier room.

Are there rules for hygiene?

Sinks, taps and toilets are cleaned three times a day.
Some toilets are reserved for people with disabilities and/or a high need for infection control.

If you have diarrhea, please mark the affected toilets. If you take on toilet cleaning shifts, please make sure that you do not take on any Küfa shifts in the following two days. Please wash your hands regularly. If you can, use your elbow to turn taps on and off.

Is there a protection concept for pandemics?

No, we do not have a complete protection concept this year. We encourage all camp participants to contribute to good basic hygiene and to take care of themselves and others (see Camp life -> Hygiene). Paramedics are always available to support people in case of illness. We also offer masks and COVID-19 rapid tests to protect yourself and others.

Can I smoke at the camp?

Yes, but please make sure that nobody is exposed to your smoke who doesn’t want to be (it’s best to ask them) and make sure that ashes and waste are disposed of properly. Smoking is prohibited near tents.

What about other drugs?

Please only consume drugs legally on the camp grounds.

When using drugs, please also consider the needs of other people around you. If in doubt, it is best to ask whether it is okay for everyone.

Camping

What do I need to take with me?

There are areas on the camp grounds where you can pitch your tent, as well as a few tents with camp beds that we have available for people with disabilities or chronic illnesses. Water and food are provided; if you have any food restrictions, please let the Allergy Kitchen know in advance. There are also sanitary facilities on site, so please bring toiletries and a towel. Otherwise: whatever you need to feel comfortable! [This may even include small, economical electrical appliances.]

Example packing list:

Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat; refillable water bottle(s); any medication you need; personal hygiene, pads/tampons and other hygiene items you need; clothing and footwear for different weather conditions; rain protection, rain jacket, rain trousers; sun protection, sun cream; headlamps or flashlights; games; books; musical instruments; banners and decorations; cash for camp and a donation in a barrel (if you want); and most importantly: a good mood 🙂

Where can I sleep?

There will be a meadow for camping. You can look for a free pitch here. There are neither areas for caravan camping nor parking spaces at the tent areas.
Please note that some tent areas are reserved for specific people or needs (e.g. a quiet tent area). There will be an area map online and at the Info-Point. There will also be a bed exchange, where people from the neighborhood can offer sleeping places in indoor areas. Please get in touch if you can’t sleep in a tent.

Information

How do I find my way around the camp?

We have an info point where a person is available to answer questions during the day. There you will also find a map of the camp grounds, the shift schedules for our shared reproduction work (e.g. cleaning toilets, helping to chop vegetables in the kitchen or assisting people with disabilities in everyday camp life) and an overview of the planned daily program as well as lots of other information material. In addition, you are welcome to take part in a guided tour of the camp site; you will soon find the times for this in the program.
There is also a get-to-know-you meeting every day to meet people. Have a look at the program.

Where can I find information about the workshops?

Information about the workshops is available online before the camp and at the info point on site. Please check back later!

Who can help me with uncertainties?

If you have any questions, you are always welcome to contact the Info Point. The people there will try to help you. Of course, you can also always ask other people.
If you are not feeling well and/or you need people to talk to, you can always contact the Awareness team.

How can I meet people?

There will be a get-to-know-you meeting every day to meet other people and then go to workshops together, help or just relax. The exact time will be listed in the program. You can also come to the get-to-know-you meeting several times. Right at the beginning of the camp – during set-up – there is also a buddy system where people can get together with others, so don’t be afraid to arrive early/alone.
Otherwise you can also meet new people in the food queue, at workshops or while cleaning the toilets!

Is the camp registered as an assembly?

Yes, the camp is legally registered as an assembly and according to § 12 HVersG. We are therefore protected by the freedom of assembly.

For presenters

What materials are available?

There will be moderation materials in each tent (pens, crepe, moderation cards, paper, flipchart with paper). We cannot provide any other materials (for projectors see: “Will there be projectors?”) and you will have to bring what you need yourself.

Gibt es Sitzgelegenheiten oder Tische?

We try to have some seating in each tent.

Is there a flipchart stand?

We try to provide one in each tent.

Can posters, flipchart paper or other materials be stuck to tent walls?

Nothing should be glued to the tent corners, otherwise they will break. We want to avoid this so that we can enjoy the tents for a long time to come. Thank you!

I still need certain prerequisites to be able to hold the workshop/event

What materials do I need to bring myself?

If you need other materials that are not part of the moderation materials mentioned, please ask or bring them yourself, if possible.

Will there be projectors?

In our experience, it makes no sense to use projectors during the day. It is usually very bright in the tents, which means that projections are difficult to see. Also, not all tents have electricity. So it makes sense to plan without a projector!

If it is not at all conceivable for you without a projector, it is important that this is stated in the content registration.

I forgot to enter that I need a projector. What can I do?

You can bring your own projector, but not all tents have a power connection and the amount of power available at any one time is limited. If you urgently need a projector, please let us know so that we can see what we can do. If you want to bring your own, please let us check it for usability at the camp and don’t just plug it in yourself. Thank you!

What do I do if I have questions about my workshop/event at the camp?

There will be office hours of the Program-AG, please use them if possible, thank you! They will probably be before the workshop slots, the exact times will be posted at the Program-AG tent at the camp at the latest.
For non-program/reference-specific questions, please contact the info point.

I am unfortunately ill and cannot hold my workshop/event. What can I do?

Let us know as early as possible by e-mail (and/or in the content registration), thank you!
