There is a wide range of experience in the histories of movements. Together, we want to explore how we can use these for the future, because history is doable and so is system change!
“Memory is good (...) because it is the mirror that helps us understand the present and holds the promise of the future.”
translated quote from “Geschichten des Alten Antonio” (stories of old Antonio) by Subcommandante Marcos
The program will once again be very broad and diverse, but we would also like to set a thematic focus on which we are seeking more contributions and which will have an impact on the selection process for the program. Last year the focus was on anti-fascism, this year the camp will be held under the motto History is doable! System Change too!
We want to situate ourselves in a movement cycle and a longer history, learn to better classify our (current) roles in different movements and develop a deeper understanding of where the movements come from, what struggles we are building on and what we can learn from these past experiences for the future. We have a broad understanding of movement history, for us it encompasses many emancipatory (social) movements, movement moments and different ways of being politically active. We hope that we don’t just look at the past, but that we can (together) see what we can take away from it for the present and the future.
Wherever there was power, there was also resistance.
We want to learn from this: What was valuable, what do we want to repeat, what do we want to do differently?
“Geschichte ist machbar” (History is doable) is, by the way, a book title by Rudi Dutschke – “Texte über das herrschende Falsche und die Radikalität des Friedens” (Texts on the prevailing falsehood and the radicality of peace)
