We want to address and fill the gaps in the climate movement’s understanding of militarism, as the devastating logic of war and (fossil fuel) imperialism, coupled with a rapidly growing arms industry that is extremely destructive to the environment and climate, not only threatens to become entrenched, but also seems to be escalating almost unchecked. In times of sharply escalating capitalist distribution crises and climate collapse, we want to join forces with various movement actors not only to look back, but also to look ahead to how we can (once again) become resistant and organized in our ability to act against war, the climate crisis, and capital.

Mobivortrag on the 2026 mass action: Together, we want to oppose the construction of 50 new gas-fired power plants and prevent the coal phase-out from becoming a gas phase-in.

In this mobilization talk, we will present our ideas for a mass action in the summer of 2026. Afterwards, we want to discuss strategies and ideas for action with you. But what exactly is this about?

“We need to build 50 gas-fired power plants in Germany as quickly as possible so they can be connected to the grid immediately.” That’s what Friedrich Merz said shortly before his election as chancellor. Meanwhile, the CDU and SPD government is following up on its words with action and is working on tenders for gas-fired power plants with a total capacity of 20 gigawatts. To justify this, it is peddling the fairy tale of natural gas as a low-emission bridge technology, a harmless transition to renewable energies.
