System Change Camp needs you!

The camp aims to ensure that everyone can live well. It is self-organized and one of the largest within the left-wing movement. You would like to help? Then come to the online onboarding. There you can get to know us and decide whether you want to participate. The meeting will be held in difficult German or English.

We urgently need help in the Materials Working Group. This group handles everything related to materials. You’ll keep track of everything and plan transportation. Without this work, there would be no camp. If you’re good at coordinating and know how to work with spreadsheets, please get in touch with us!

Do you want to recognize and prevent discrimination? Then support the Anti-Discrimination Working Group!

Would you like to help ensure that translations are available at the camp? Then join the Interpretation Working Group!

Is it important to you that people feel comfortable? Would you like to help with the awareness concept? Then join the Awareness Working Group!

Contribute your own content as a group at System Change Camp 2026

You are welcome to use System Change Camp as a networking hub or to present your own content as an independent group, organisation or collective.

There are three ways you can get involved:

Setting up your own “external tent”: At SCC 26, there will once again be an opportunity to organise a themed tent independently of our Programme Working Group. The tent can encompass educational programmes, networking and strategic processes. This way, you can become part of the camp’s programme with your own content. Please send us your ideas by 12 April (to vernetzung@system-change-camp.org).
Networking: Do you want to network with different activists to drive a political process? Are you still looking for a venue, for example, for a strategy conference or a group meeting? You’re welcome to do so here at the camp, where you can make use of our facilities and enrich our camp with your struggles, ideas and people. These processes may be public or private.
Individual programme contributions: There will be another call for content this year, where you can submit individual programme contributions. Do you want to discuss an interim strategy with a wider movement audience? Gather perspectives for your processes? Organise a panel discussion? Then please submit your proposal here on our website from mid-April onwards.

In the face of war, right-wing populism, fascism and the climate crisis, we do not want to bury our heads in the sand, but rather grow as a movement and develop new strategies and actions. Alongside general systemic change, this year we also want to focus above all on shaping care work collectively and in solidarity (more on this on our website in the coming weeks).

We would be delighted if you could enrich the camp with your insights, political experiences and strategies.

Would you like to help organize the next camp in the areas of program, awareness, public relations or infrastructure? We are always happy to welcome more motivated people, even without previous experience, because only together can we manage such a big camp!

The camp period this year includes set-up and dismantling

In previous years, we did not include set-up and dismantling in the camp period. However, setting up and dismantling is as much a part of the camp as the workshops themselves and the program as a whole. Setting up the tents and setting up the infrastructure is already part of the political work of our self-organized camp.

How does the Program WG work?

The Program Working Group serves as a coordinating body between individuals and groups in the various movements and the System Change Camp organizing team. We handle the Call for Content, maintain contact with the external tents, prepare facilitation materials, and are generally available to answer questions about the program. (Feel free to check the FAQ to see if we’ve already answered your question there before contacting us.)

There will once again be several hundred different program items, and we are a group of just seven people. We are unable to maintain close contact with individual speakers, make content-related decisions regarding workshop design, or provide speaker support.

Often, the session descriptions are the only information we have about the content of a submission. We cannot conduct background research on every session. At the same time, it’s also important to us to open up spaces for discourse at the camp and to talk to one another as people on the left—even more so and with a wider range of opinions than happens elsewhere. We believe it’s important to foster a culture of respectful debate. We are aware that it can be challenging to be confronted with different political views. However, the groups and speakers themselves are primarily responsible for the specific content, and therefore criticism of that content is best directed to them.

How our program is created

The program is put together in three different ways: through external groups, through the Call for Content, and through the Open Spaces at the camp.

In March, external groups had the opportunity to submit a proposal for setting up a tent, with the goal of establishing a thematic focus or perspective within it and designing the tent autonomously as they wished. A total of 10 groups responded to our call, and they will fill a total of 9 tents.

Through the Call for Content, groups and individuals can submit individual contributions. These can range from workshops and networking to cultural programs and films, and can address the political issues that concern us. For this year’s Call for Content, there is only one submission deadline: July 12, 2026. When selecting program contributions, diversity is important to us—both in terms of content and in terms of formats and the perspectives of the presenters.

If you’re more spontaneous or just want to offer something smaller, you can also use the Open Space at the camp. The Open Space has its own program board at the camp with designated Open Space times. This year, we want to make more Open Space sessions available during the main workshop slots as well. Unfortunately, it’s not technically possible for these sessions to appear in the app or on the website.

We’ll always have several program activities running at the same time—so there will always be something for you, or you’ll be spoiled for choice. ;-)

At the same time, we’re planning plenty of breaks and would like to encourage all participants, volunteers, and speakers to pay attention to their need for rest and not let the many options overwhelm them.

Collectivization of the camp

In 2026, the SCC will be even more collective than in previous years: everyone at the camp is expected to contribute to making the camp run smoothly and be truly wonderful. In recent years, the SCC organizing team has sometimes been overwhelmed by all the tasks and responsibilities that come with running such a large camp. We want to learn from this and do better this year.
If everyone takes on a little bit, it won’t be too much for anyone, and at the same time, it’s a great opportunity to learn something new and collectively bring a wonderful place to life.

This can involve a lot of different things, such as:

Taking on printing shifts
Becoming a long-term volunteer
Spontaneously designing spaces on your own
Seeking solutions to conflicts yourself
Supporting others when they need help
Connecting people with one another
And much more… Get creative!

We want to move away from the idea that the camp is organized solely by the camp organizers and toward the idea that the camp is a space we all help shape and for which we take joint responsibility. Together, we can show what solidarity in action looks like and make a little utopia a reality!
